Amazon Prime members have access to ad-free music and podcasts by expanding its library, the company’s latest effort to boost the value of its flagship subscription service.

Amazon announced Tuesday that Amazon Prime members have access to ad-free music and podcast by expanding the library to 100 million songs, up from 2 million. The music will be ad-free, but users will only be able to listen to shuffled artists, albums, or playlists, rather than picking songs on demand.
According to Amazon, separate “All-Access” playlists tailored to users’ preferences can be played on request and downloaded for offline listening.
The new Prime podcast and music features will almost probably enhance competition with Spotify and Apple Music. Apple raised the monthly price of Apple Music from $9.99 to $10.99 last month. Spotify CEO Daniel Ek said that the company is considering boosting subscription prices.
“When we first unveiled Amazon Music for Prime members, we gave an ad-free library of 2 million songs,” Steve Boom, VP of Amazon Music, explains. “We are constantly improving for our customers, bringing even more satisfaction in addition to the current benefit and utility.”
Amazon Prime members have access to ad-free music and podcasts from CNN, NPR, The New York Times, and ESPN, as well as content from Wondery, the podcasting start-up Amazon purchased in 2020.
Ad-free shows include the Wondery catalog of premium, binge-worthy podcasts such as Dr. Death, SmartLess, and Even the Rich, as well as new Amazon Exclusive, shows such as

Podcast Previews provides handpicked clips aimed to introduce new listeners to podcasts and help existing podcast fans choose their next favorite episode.
Amazon Prime debuted in 2005, promising users free shipping, video streaming, and other benefits. The firm recently increased the price of Prime, which has over 200 million members worldwide, from $119 to $139 a year and added a Grubhub food delivery benefit.
